Naturals VoxBox from Influenster

I am sure most of you are asking yourself What’s a VoxBox? What’s Influenster? which is exactly the reaction I initially had just under a year ago after hearing the names for the first time. Influenster is a trendsetter community that uses your influence in order to qualify for complimentary PRODUCT SHIPMENTS, REWARDS & DEALS fit for your lifestyle. The more active you are, the more perks you get – easy as pie! A VoxBox is the technical term for the shipment of goodies you’ll receive if you are selected to product test once you’ve (in most cases) completed a simple survey. You can also increase the chance of being selected by connecting to and unlocking as many Influence Badges as possible once you create your profile.

Recently I was selected to participate in the very first Naturals VoxBox:

The Original Dish Drying Mat |  It is a unique, laminated design that combines a thin layer of foam between two layers of high quality, super absorbant microfiber for a new dish washing experience that converves energy and paper towels by air drying and saves water by hand-washing. ($4.99) Check out their website here –

  • First Impressions: I was elated to see this item in my Naturals VoxBox. I have been using a regular dish towel as a holding pad for any dishes I wash by hand which isn’t all that effective. This new mat also provides a cushion for the more delicate items (i.e. wine glasses, etc) to rest while they dry. A small perk but for the price you can’t beat it. I love that it is machine washable too.

LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizr |  With pure Swedish beeswax, organic shea butter and vitamins A and E, LypSyl will give your lips long-lasting, deep-penetrating moisture and lip care protection to moisturize, doften and protect your lips naturally for a healthy pucker!. ($2.87-$2.99) CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE –

  • First Impressions: This product definitely delivers on it moisture promise but it left me wanting. I actually prefer sweet smelling/tasting lip balms with a delicate hint of tint.

EBOOST |  It will boost your mood, focus and immunity with natural ingredients and no crash. As a shot or easy-to-mix powder and in four flavors, you’ll feel great whichever flavor you select. ($28 for 20 powders or $39 for 12 shots)

  • First Impressions: I received an orange packet of this product and it smelled DELICIOUS but was deeply disappointed once I went to mix it in my water. It bubbled up a bit – almost having a creamy consistency – which faded after a few minutes and upon first taste I was not very impressed. It has the distant familiarity of Tang (from the 80s) but had a very bitter/astringent taste that I could not get past.

CleanWell Hand Sanitizer Wipes |  They clean up messes and kill germs with all natural ingredients that are easy on the earth. Their mild ingredients are great for hands and faces, and the one-use packet is ideal for all your on-th-go activities. ($29.99 for 50 pouches) CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE –

  • First Impressions: I genuinely loved this product. It definitely was gentle on my hands (had no need to use on my face) and portable. BUT at almost $.60 a wipe I’ll have to say no thank you to a purchase on my own.

GEODEO |  This Natural Deodorant PLUS Detox Complex provides 24-hour odor protection. It is a naturally-derived, breakthrough eco-technology, specially formulated to be safe for your body and world.  ($5.99 for 2.3 oz stick)

  • First Impressions: The scent I received is Island and it blew me away with how AMAZING it smelled. I’ve been looking around for a safer deodorant and I might have met my match! So far it has worked brilliantly throughout a regular work day. The real test will come once I hit the gym this evening!

NECTRESSE |  It tastes like sugar but with zero calories per serving! 100% all natural, NECTRESSE is made primarily from monk fruit, combined with other natural sweeteners.  ($3.99 for 40 servings)

  • First Impressions: I’m a huge green tea drinker and use 1-2 packets of sweetener per cup. My favorite has always been Splenda Fiber but I was excited to see this new product. I used both packets in a 16 oz drink and I am sad to report that it didn’t really sweeten my beverage at all. I love that it’s natural but I’d have to use 3-4 packets in 1 drink just to get the same level of sweetness as my usual product.

Desert Essence Coconut Shine & Refine Lotion |  Bring out your hair’s natural beauty and texture as you nourish it with this product. Cactus, Agave, Vitamin E, Coconut Oil and Extract work together!  ($9.99 for 64 fl. oz bottle)

  • First Impressions: Divine. Simply divine. It smells amazing and gives my hair incredible shine. I have to stay away from my roots, though, as I have extremely thin hair and I could see where this product might make it appear greasy/weighed down so in all honest a little goes a LONG way! What a refreshing product – no chemicals!

I was recently selected to participate in the upcoming Bride VoxBox so be on the lookout for another post like this from me soon! 🙂

September 2012 – Birchbox #4

Birchbox is a subscription service that sends a goody box full of high-end samples and sometimes full-size products based on the profile you complete to make sure they suit your needs/wants! The subscription costs $10/monthwhich is pretty reasonable seeing as the box itself can contain items WELL over that amount (note – I received my 1 year subscription as a gift for being a loyal customer of Cafe Escapes so check them out and tell them @KimR5 sent you). They also have a nice rewards program, where for each survey you complete for the products that are sent you get 10 points and then every 100 points earns you $10 in Birchbox credits which you can redeem in their online store for full-sized products. One feature I ♥ about their website is that it details featured items you might see in your box, featured items for next month’s box you might see and the tracking number for each package. Extremely helpful – especially to ensure that you received everything that was hand selected for you by Birchbox. Currently they are only offering this for women but I saw a link on their site that shows beta testing for men which would be really interesting! If this sounds like something you’re interested in, please use my referral link to join now!

21 drops | Focus Aromatherapy Blend – Stay sharp with this mind-clearing blend of rosemary and peppermint essential oils. Apply to pulse points and breathe deep. (Full-size, $29)

  • First Impressions: Upon first sniff I was instantly transported back to my massage school days. The delicate blend of rosemary and peppermint both soothe and awaken the senses. The rollerball applicator makes using just the right amount a breeze! It would be perfect on a stressful day, during a massage or even right before bedtime depending on your tolerance for the scent.

Color Club | Birchbox Custom Polish – We teamed up with Color Club to create this custom shade, inspired by the Fal 2012 collections. (Full-size, $8)

  • First Impressions: The color itself is not one I might have picked on my own but now having it at my (literal) fingertips I’m a bit excited about it. I tested it out on one of my nails and the application process was fairly smooth, not too runny (like a lot of other inexpensive polishes) and I could have only applied one coat if short on time.

kate spade new york | Twirl – A blend of fruity and floral notes, this modern classic feels joyful and carefree. (Full-size, $18-$80)

  • First Impressions: It was a bit flowery for my taste just smelling it straight from the tester but once it mixed with my body chemistry it gave off a much more subtle, pleasant, very sophisticated scent. I feel a bit more on the delicate/feminine side while wearing it. I am not sure that I’ll invest in an entire bottle of it but I’ll gladly use the tester right down to the last spritz.

twistband | Hair Tie –Give your ponytail a makeover with these colorful, snag-free elastics. (Set of 12, $18)

  • First Impressions: At first glance there’s no way I would have pegged this item for a hair tie as it looks more like a gift box decoration BUT that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I have extremely thin/delicate hair so making sure that I have minimal breakage is essential. I currently use thin hair bands I purchased at Target but this one definitely blows those away. No matter how tangled of a bun I put my hair into it always slides out with a great sense of ease. No more sacrificing valuable hairs!

WEI to Go | Sleep Over Kit – Wash away dirt and debris with the camellia oil-infused gel cleanser, then perfect your skin with the moisturing face tint. (Full-size, $19)

  • First Impressions: It’s an interested concept although the scent is a bit overwhelming for my taste. I like a cool, clean smell but nothing that takes up camp for any solid amount of time after my skin dries. The moisturizing face tint was a nice tough though.

September’s box was 75/25 for me. I am pretty sure I’ll break down and buy a set of the hair ties seeing as they look like they’ll last a long time. I’ll definitely make use of the perfume and aromatherapy samples too! Remember, if you want to purchase a subscription use my link to join

Homedics Hydro-Therapy Foot Massager with Jet Action and Heat

Most people love to be pampered but either don’t make the time for it OR it’s just ridiculously expensive. A decent pedicure costs upwards of $30 (if you’re lucky) plus tip which can add up. My fiancé’s solution? My very own at home foot spa! Enter the Homedics Hydro-Therapy Foot Massager with Jet Action and Heat:

Before deciding that this might be the best foot spa for my needs we did quite a bit of in-depth research and it seemed like had some amazing reviews and some that thought it was a waste of money. Personally, I’m a simple person. I know that an at home foot spa will NOT give me the results of one that is in a salon but it doesn’t mean it still isn’t a relaxing experience.

I took it for a test run last night and was pleasantly surprised. Here are some notes based on the title and description of the product:

  • Foot Massager with Jet Action and Heat – the title is a bit deceiving. The truth of the matter is that there are small water spouts that mainly serve to keep the water circulating but by no means is it a massage. For me, that’s perfectly fine! I can’t expect it to blow me away with a price tag of $49.99. There’s a foot massage nodule in the middle that you can use to self massage/rub tough areas of your feet. The actual massage mode works in conjunction with raised nodules on the bottom of the tub – not the raised nodule in the center. It provided some pressure point/vibration massage along the pads of my feet depending on where I placed them. I could even feel the vibrations up through my calf muscles which was a nice surprise.
  • Blue LED Lighting – this is purely aesthetic. It doesn’t actually do anything for you but it really looks pretty and relaxing with the lights dimmed. Again, not worth paying MORE for but it’s a definite plus in my opinion. This is a bit where the “heat maintenance” comes in. As my feet got used to the hot water there were moments where I felt like the water had gone cold quickly but once I tested it with my fingertips I realized that my feet had just adjusted to the temperature.
  • 30 minute time limit – This is to safeguard against the unit from overheating. It’s more than enough time to get the full spa experience especially before the water completely cools off.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase. It left my feet feeling rejuvenated and as close to being spa pampered as possible. For the price and comparison of several similar models, I don’t think you can go wrong!
