Pantene Keratin Protection Creme

I won Pantene’s Keratin Protection Creme through a Freebie Friday giveaway that Pantene hosted recently on their FB page:

A little background on my “hair care routine” or lack thereof – the amount of time spent on my hair is extremely low but not for a lack of interest! I have naturally, stick-straight, extremely thin blonde hair so by the time I step out of the shower my hair is practically dry already (only a slight exaggeration). For most people that would be a dream come true but I have many moments where I’d give anything to rock a hairstyle other than split straight down the middle or tucked behind my ears – anything other than that I wind up looking far too young or a little unfortunate as my skull peeks through! Eek!

This product arrived and it promised to provide stronger, healthier hair with fewer split ends which I’ve heard many times before but I put my trust in Pantene and gave it a test run. I applied a quarter sized amount after towel drying my hair and the first thing I noticed was the incredible SMELL! It was almost like I was applying a subtle hair perfume. The next thing I noticed was how easily it glided on without any large residue or stickiness (only required a light rinse of my hands). Once my hair dried I immediately noticed that the static that usually lurks around my scalp in the winter had vanished. The only other time I have experienced that is when I’ve taken a dryer sheet to my strands so that was quite the added bonus in my opinion.

I’ve been using this product daily for over a month now and I definitely notice a difference on the days where I accidentally skip the step in my new and improved haircare routine. I am still using the same bottle Pantene sent to me which is pretty impressive. Just when I think I’ve squeezed out the last of it I am able to get another day’s worth or use out of it. It’s honestly no wonder that this product comes with a 2Xs your money back guarantee if you don’t like it! Pantene is just that confident and that is enough to keep me coming back for more.

Montagne Jeunesse

One product that I received to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program was the Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Pac:

I adore pampering myself so I was excited to try a brand new product – especially one that I might not have purchased on my own at the store! This particular mud pac is designed to provide an ultra deep pore cleanse – something I don’t know many people could afford to say no to – and a really great opportunity to reduce stress.

The steps are fairly standard – cleanse your face, apply the max and allow it to soak in for 10-15 minutes. I opted to do this while taking a bubble bath to really get the full spa effect and I think the steam in conjunction with the mud pac really did wonders for my skin!  A huge plus of the product is that it wasn’t as messy as some other products I have used. It went on fairly easily and I didn’t experience any particular difficulty washing it off. My skin felt positively radiant after I washed it off and extremely soft.

The only negative I could find was with the product label. I really respect the fact that the company is vegetarian but saying that they don’t “bash bunnies or add bits of animals” was a bit offputting in my opinion.

Twizzlers Rainbow Twists

I recently had a chance to do a product test on Twizzlers Rainbow Twists:

As a fan of strawberry Twizzlers I was extremely excited to test this product. There are 6 flavors to choose from: strawberry, orange, lemonade, watermelon, blue raspberry and grape.

To be honest they are nothing like the strawberry ones. These seem way more artificial (than usual) with the bright colors and shiny exterior! The tastes all seem to merge with another, too, being packaged as a set not to mention the distinct after taste that remained for a lot longer than I would have expected. If I had to choose I would eat the watermelon or lemonade ones but most likely will just stick to the strawberry kind when a craving hits!

Clearasil PerfectaWash

I was recently selected to product test Clearasil’s brand new PerfectaWash automatic face wash system before it hits stores in the Spring thanks to Allure:

I have been using this product twice a day for about 5 days now and while I haven’t noticed a huge change in the appearance of my skin (yet) it definitely feels much more refreshed after each wash.

The system is a “touchless” design that automatically dispenses an equal amount of cleanser each time you place your hand under the nozzle. Now, for me this was just slightly too little cleanser but if I placed my hand under for another dose it was too MUCH cleanser which wound up getting wasted. Perhaps there could be 2-3 options for consumers to pick from on future models of this product? The ON/OFF button on the back of the dispenser may take away some comedic moments (like when my fiance put our Lysol No Touch soap dispenser on the bed and it went wild because the sensor was engaged) in the bathroom but at least the dispenser will behave itself when not in use if turned to the OFF position.

I love that a 3 month supply comes with the package. Who wants to run out of cleanser or have to keep purchasing it every single month? Unless you’re a stockpiler that definitely is not you. Both scents are divine and I have found that I use the soothing plant extracts tube at night and the superfruit splash in the morning for a little pickmeup!

The main thing I am pleased about is Clearasil’s ability to truly create an acne product that ANYONE can use. I have used harsher/similar products before even though my skin is fairly decent and it left me in agony. This product left very little dryness and no tight or red spots which is a nice change of pace. In fact, it actually felt soft after the first use.

Huge plus for including the 3 AAA batteries that it requires. One less hassle!

NYC New York Color

Another product that I received in my complimentary VoxBox from Influenster was the New York Color Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City” (a name I find ridiculously entertaining):

Most days you won’t find me wearing any type of lipstick or gloss on my lips – lip balm at best – but I made a commitment to test everything fair and square so I gave it a whirl over the weekend. The first thing I noticed was the pleasant, almost fruity smell that the lipshine gave off. The application was extremely easy and for someone that is not used to wearing bold lip color I ♥’d that there was primarily only a sheen to it as opposed to an overbearing color! It was a tad “tacky” feeling but I’ve definitely experienced much worse and it seemed to smooth out the more I rubbed my lips together. The product lasted through lunchtime and almost seemed to exfoliate my lips a bit but that might just be (again) because I am not used to lip products.

It now has a place in my purse and I find myself wearing it 2-3 days a week which is 30-40% more often than before so I’d say that’s a success story in my book. It’s amazing what just a little bit of shine can do to bring out your smile and enhance your overall demeanor. Plus you cannot beat the price range of $.99 – $4.99 a pop ($2.49 for the one I tested).

imPRESS Press-on Manicure

I recently was selected to receive my very first complimentary VoxBox from Infuenster which essentially is a goodie box full of products they’d like you test and provide honest feedback about. One of the items inside the box was an imPRESS Press-on Manicure kit from Broadway Nails in Chic Mystique.:

I am familiar with the Broadway Nails brand as I use their Design Nails and French Manicure kits quite frequently which use pink gel glue to apply the set which provides a secure fit (around 2 weeks usually) but can be a bit time consuming and messy! The new imPRESS manicure kit that I was sent came with a peel-off adhesive already attached to the nail unlike the Lee Press-on version of earlier days.

I had to admit I was a little skeptical at first regarding how long the nails would actually stay on but I went ahead and applied them Sunday afternoon. I didn’t have any issues selecting nails that fit perfectly as with the other Broadway Nails manicure kits but my hands are fairly tiny compared to most. The application was sincerely a breeze! In just a few minutes I had all 10 nails securely in place and the only cleanup I had was to toss a few peelies from the backs of the nails. The pink gel glue kits took around 20 minutes to apply not including the extra cleanup that sometimes was needed when I applied too much glue and had to wipe or file it off. Each nail from the imPRESS manicure kit looked immaculate and I didn’t have to worry about leaving time to dry or the dreaded fear of smudging the look when I got impatient.

I am 3 days in and the manicure still looks amazing. I have received so many compliments from co-workers and friends – most of which thought I had gone to a salon to have them applied! The fact that they are still feeling as secure as the first day I applied them is extremely impressive to me as I do a lot of typing for my job and other various tasks that require the use of my hands. I was expecting to have a “nail down” within the first 1-2 days but so far so good!

The only 2 cons I can think of are as follows:

  • If one nail isn’t properly applied or gets knocked off the entire manicure is a wash. I wish there was an extra pack of adhesive material in the package for a quick fix in a situation like that. I always kept the pink gel glue on hand for emergencies!
  • Also, the price of $7.99 for patterns is a bit steep seeing as this manicure is only estimated to last 1 week IF applied properly. I was paying the same price if not less for the kits that lasted 2 weeks or more using the pink gel glue.

imPress Manicure retails for $5.99 for colors and $7.99 for patterns, and is available at CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart and more.
